Dr. A. Wright Pond is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, the Virginia Dental Association and the American College of Dentists. He received his undergraduate education from Richard Bland College and the College of William and Mary before attending the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry and earning his dental degree at Virginia Commonwealth University. After practicing general dentistry for one year, Dr. Pond then returned to Virginia Commonwealth University to complete his orthodontic education in 1973.

Dr. Pond is a member of many professional organizations including the American
Association of Orthodontists, the World Federation of Orthodontists, the Virginia
Association of Orthodontists, the Virginia Dental Association, the American Dental
Association and the Southside Dental Association. Dr. Pond is the past president of the Virginia Association of Orthodontists, the Southside Dental Association and the Medical College of Virginia Foundation for Education and Research.

A native of the Tri-City area, Dr. Pond has fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming a
dentist and an orthodontist. He gives back to the community through his involvement
in education and has been a member of the Lion’s Club for over 30 years as well as
serving in the past as president. In addition, he has served as the president of the Colonial Heights Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Pond resides in Colonial Heights and has two children, a son-in-law and two grandchildren.
